Saying farewell is hard. Celebrant Joy has helped many families and next of kin to organise personalised and fitting funeral ceremonies for all ages.

Funeral services can be held in many locations – at chapels, outdoors, at home, at a local hall or club, a local park, for example, including those listed on my Locations page.

I’ll answer your questions and share ideas for funeral rituals and ceremony inclusions to make it a truly memorable farewell.

Customised Funeral Poetry or Readings

Customised Funeral Poetry or Readings is one way to make a funeral or memorial service truly individual. I may write a poem based on your information or suggest suitable readings. For ideas, see Joyful Occasions funeral readings on Pinterest.

Children at Funerals

There are many ways to involve children in services including decorating the coffin or drawing a picture as a tribute; the ideas are endless. Celebrant Joy can also suggest books and resources to help explain death to children.

Living Wakes

Some people opt to have a celebration of life before they pass. It’s way to gather friends and family, share stories and tributes over a meal, an afternoon tea or picnic. I can assist with your event.

Live Streaming

Funeral and memorial services can be live-streamed to family and friends who are unable to attend on the day. I can discuss options to suit most locations.

Memories Book

You can ask family and friends to write their favourite memory of the deceased. These form a customised Memories Book for you, and future generations.

Photo Tributes

Generally up to 30 images are included in a photo tribute per song at a funeral or memorial service. I can share more details when we chat. TIP – if you have lots of photos, consider making a longer photo tribute to view at the wake.

Funeral notices

These are optional and not a legal requirement. Celebrant Joy can assist with templates for social media posts, newspaper notices or other listings.

Memorial Services

These occur if a person had a direct cremation, died in a remote location, or donated their body to medical science. Memorial services offer comfort in a safe, shared space for families and friends to grieve and celebrate life.

Corporate Ceremonies

The sudden death of a fellow employee can create shockwaves. I can assist with holding an in-house memorial service as part of your employment assistance program (EAP).
